From Rin-Tin-Tin to Casablanca to Harry Potter, the Warner Bros. story is the history of Hollywood. Over the course of eighty-five years, no studio has had more legendary movies, more stars, or more influence on the course of cinema. It has been home to the likes of Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, and John Wayne; filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick; and the franchises of Superman and Batman. This volume gives the complete story, lavishly illustrated with rare color and black-and-white photos to produce the ultimate guide to the greatest movie studio in history.

Richard Schickel is the director-writer-producer of You Must Remember This, the television series to which this book is the companion volume. He is the author of over thirty books on cinema and the creator of an equal number of documentary films, which most recently include portraits of Charlie Chaplin, Steven Spielberg, and Woody Allen. Since 1956, he has been a film critic for Life and Time and he is a Los Angeles resident.

George Perry is an author, reviewer, and broadcaster who has interviewed many of the greatest names in movies. He has served on film festival juries around the world, and has written over thirty books, among them biographies of Monty Python and James Dean. He lives in London.
